Description

This exceptional lot comes from Finca La Lia, located in Santa Rosa de León Cortés, Tarrazú, between 1,900 and 2,000 meters above sea level, and managed by brothers Luis and Oscar Monge. The farm has remained in the family for almost 70 years, but it was in 2008 that the brothers took full control of production and founded their own micro-mill, named in honor of their mother, Lia.

The estate is divided into seven plots, with areas reaching altitudes of nearly 2,100 meters, where the cherries ripen slowly, concentrating sugars and aromatic complexity. In addition to classic varieties such as Catuai and Caturra, La Lia cultivates a wide range of high-quality varieties, including Geisha, Bourbon, Pacamara, SL28, and Kenya.

This coffee is processed using the Red Honey method, which retains some of the mucilage during drying, enhancing the sweetness and aromatic expression without sacrificing clarity. The result is a very clean, floral, and tropical cup with a delicate and refined structure reminiscent of a tea infusion.

The production of this batch was extremely limited, just two 69 kg bags, making it a truly unique piece. The combination of altitude, variety, and precise processing results in an elegant, expressive, and nuanced coffee, reflecting the Monge family's deep knowledge and experience.
