El Recreo is a coffee from Gigante, Huila (Colombia), produced by Darío Rodríguez, a coffee grower with decades of experience and a deep connection with coffee cultivation.

Darío inherited the El Recreo farm from his parents and has worked there since 1975. About seven years ago, he decided to focus on specialty coffee as a way to improve his family's quality of life, relying on both inherited knowledge and his own training.

The farm covers 16 hectares, 10 of which are dedicated to coffee cultivation, including varieties such as Pink Bourbon, Caturra, Colombia, and Castillo. Located at 1,670 meters above sea level, the farm offers ideal conditions for developing coffees with good structure, sweetness, and complexity.

This batch of washed Pink Bourbon stands out for its clarity and sophistication, and was one of the coffees that contributed to Good Life Coffee's victory in the Nordics Best Roaster 2024 competition, reflecting its exceptional quality.

Process

The coffee is processed using the washed method, with a fermentation of approximately 40 hours, which adds greater depth and complexity to the flavor profile. Afterward, the coffee is sun-dried on raised African beds, ensuring uniform and controlled drying.

In the cup, El Recreo presents a complex and expressive profile, with notes of exotic fruit, cherry, florals and an elegant sweetness, offering a balanced and high-quality experience.
