Description

Karinga AB is a coffee from Kiambu, Kenya, produced by the Gitwe Farmers Co-operative Society and processed at the Karinga Factory washing station.

Located at 1,840 meters above sea level, this area is characterized by its red volcanic soils and abundant rainfall, ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality coffee. Around 650 small-scale producers from nearby communities deliver their coffee cherries to the station, forming a collaborative agricultural network with a strong focus on quality and sustainability.

Classic Kenyan varieties such as SL28 and SL34 are grown on the farms, along with Ruiru 11 and Batian, which provide a balance between vibrant acidity, sweetness and structure in the cup.

Process

The coffee is processed using the traditional Kenyan washed method. The cherries are pulped, fermented overnight, washed, and then soaked before drying. Finally, they are dried on raised African beds in the sun, with precise control of turning and bean selection.

This process allows you to obtain a clean, shiny cup with great aromatic clarity.

In the cup, Karinga AB offers an intense and structured profile, with notes of purple fruits, toffee and a subtle herbal character, accompanied by the vibrant acidity characteristic of Kenyan coffees.
