Description

This AA lot comes from Kii Factory, in the Kirinyaga region, at the foot of Mount Kenya. It is part of the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society, one of the country's most renowned cooperatives for its consistency, cleanliness, and precision in the cup. More than 850 small-scale growers deliver cherries to Kii, cultivated at altitudes between 1,310 and 1,900 meters.

The coffee is produced exclusively from hand-picked, ripe cherries. Only dense, perfectly ripe cherries are accepted upon arrival—a crucial first step that defines the clean and structured character of this batch. After pulping, the coffee ferments for 16 to 24 hours, is washed with clean water from the Kii River, and soaked for an additional 12 hours to refine clarity and texture.

The drying process takes place on raised African beds for approximately 14 days, with careful handling to ensure slow and even drying. The new facilities, featuring lined channels and water filtration systems, reinforce Kii's focus on quality and sustainability.

In the cup, this Kii Kirinyaga AA showcases Kenya's most refined side: clear notes of lychee and blood orange, bright but well-integrated acidity, full body, and a creamy, silky finish that brings balance and elegance.
