Description
Description
Ruera PB is a washed coffee from Ruera Estate, located in Kiambu, Kenya, a region renowned for its coffees with high aromatic intensity and fruity profiles.
This coffee grows on red volcanic soils in the rolling hills of Kiambu, at 1,577 meters above sea level, approximately 15 km from the town of Ruiru. The estate covers 190 hectares and cultivates varieties such as SL-34, Ruiru 11, SL-28, and Batian.
In the cup, Ruera PB stands out for its vibrant and juicy character. Blackcurrant acidity provides a fresh and bright sensation, while pineapple sweetness adds a tropical dimension. As the coffee cools, an elegant licorice finish appears, completing a complex and nuanced cup.
The term PB (Peaberry) refers to a special type of bean that develops with only one seed inside the cherry, instead of the usual two. This natural phenomenon occurs in a small proportion of fruits, and these beans are separated during the selection process to form independent lots.
Ruera Estate is managed by Coffee Management Services Ltd (CMS), an organization with extensive agronomic experience and a strong commitment to sustainability. Their practices include reforestation, erosion control, and responsible waste management, in addition to direct investments in the local community through employment, education, and healthcare services.
Process
This coffee has been processed using the Washed method.
The cherries are hand-picked and carefully processed to ensure the quality of the lot. After pulping and washing, the beans undergo a drying process that preserves the clarity and expression of the coffee.
The result is a clean, bright, and complex cup, highlighted by fresh fruit, tropical sweetness, and a long, distinctive finish.
