Description
Description
In the heart of Nyeri, at the foot of the Aberdare Ranges, comes this AA lot from Mutwewathi, one of the jewels of Kenyan coffee. Grown by some 750 small producers belonging to the New Gikaru Farmer Cooperative Society, this coffee embodies the precision, effort, and tradition that have made Kenya a world leader.
The SL28 and SL34 varieties, developed by Scott laboratories in the 1930s and 1940s, are the foundation of Kenyan character: deep roots, natural hardiness, and unparalleled cup quality.
The traditional fully washed process includes a 12- to 16-hour fermentation in cement tanks, additional soaking, and drying for 7 to 21 days on raised beds under constant monitoring. This meticulous care is reflected in the cup: bright acidity, juicy body, and exceptional fruit balance.
The result is an expressive, crystal-clear coffee with multiple layers of flavor — perfect for filter methods like V60, Kalita, or batch brew.
